There are certain times of year when your house might seem overrun with bugs, or you might be someone going through a very specific pest problem that you’ve been struggling to get rid of for a long time; for either of these cases, the Atomic Zapper is a product that promises to be the answer to your problems.
Instead of working like your traditional bug killer, the atomic zapper plugs into the electrical outlet of your house and repels bugs and pests with an electrical current instead.
Here’s more about the Atomic Zapper pest repellent and what I thought about it when installing one in my new house that was overrun with a massive moth population.
The Atomic Zapper
You’ve likely seen the ads for the Atomic Zapper before: Picture a house that’s overrun with whatever bug you can imagine, and then imagine everything you’ve done before to get rid of it. That describes everyone with a pest problem.
But then you plug the Atomic Zapper into your electrical outlet and the bugs appear to be just…gone. That sounds like something you’ll only see on TV – but the creators of the Atomic Zapper might just be on to something.
Ads for the product claim that it does its job with electrical impulses instead of poisons that you have to mix and expose yourself or your household to; this can work a lot easier if you have people with breathing and lung issues like asthma in the house, and it can also work just as great if you have a specific problem room in your house.
But does it really work that well?
Better Than Bug Repellent
The first thing that attracted me to the Atomic Zapper was the fact that, if it works nearly as well as the advertisement said it did, it would be automatically better than most bug repellents that are available on the market.
First, bug repellents and bug sprays just don’t work in my house: At least two of the people in our house have an absolute aversion to any coils or aerosol products and it seems to be a fast track to an asthma attack – so we’ve learned to avoid that. We tried citronella candles, but that only works for mosquitoes – if you can stand your entire house smelling like you squeezed a week-old lemon out over it.
The Atomic Zapper just turned out to be easier than most other traditional methods that we’d use to take care of pests.
It’s Safe for Humans
The other important feature that drew me to the Atomic Zapper is the fact that it’s a lot safer for people to use, and it’s better for the environment.
There are a thousand good reasons why you shouldn’t use poison to take care of your pest problem. It can be a huge hazard to your family, and if you have pets or small children around the house it’s always better to keep poisons far away – honestly, you don’t even want that kind of poisons in storage near your home if you have pets or children who might find it.
The Atomic Zapper is a lot safer than most other options including poison because it works with no mixtures, no chemicals and no poisons – only electrical impulses that bugs and other pests really, really hate.
Here’s what I found to be the best features of the Atomic Zapper when I made use of it to move into a new house with a huge bug problem.
- It works with several forms of pests at once.
Chemicals and pest traps are too often restricted to just one type of pest, but with the Atomic Zapper you can expect it to be effective against several types at once – so it doesn’t matter whether you know what kind of bug you have crawling around or don’t, it works well either way.
- You don’t have mix any chemicals or work with any poisons.
With the Atomic Zapper, I found one of the biggest pro points to be the fact that you don’t have to mix in any chemicals for it to work – so it’s the perfect product in my house where anything else would have brought on an asthma attack. I don’t even have to worry about any of the cats going near the poison because there aren’t any.
- It works the moment you plug it in.
There’s no preparation or complicated film to insert into the Atomic Zapper for it to start working – all that you have to do is plug it in and leave it; the Atomic Zapper will do the rest for you. It’s a huge help when you don’t have to run around with a can of bug spray.
There’s no product on the market that is ever completely perfect. Here’s what I thought could have been better about the Atomic Zapper.
- It can make them flee into other areas of your house.
The first thing I did was to buy an Atomic Zapper for the main living room and let it run for 12 hours. But once I did that, I realized that this wasn’t going to be effective for the whole house because the Atomic Zapper doesn’t actually kill bugs, it just repels them away from the room the Atomic Zapper is in. This can just make the bugs flee to the other parts of your house – unless, of course, you install another one.
- You’ll need more than one to cover a larger area.
If you want to cover an area that’s more than your average sized room, you’ll have to get more than one Atomic Zapper – this isn’t really a drawback since it doesn’t cost much to buy another one, it’s just something you have to think about to avoid chasing bugs all over the place and doing the opposite of what you’re trying to.
If you’re looking for an environmentally friendly way to stick it to pests, there’s nothing better than the Atomic Zapper: It won’t harm you or your family, it won’t harm the environment and it won’t even harm the pests that you’re trying to chase out: All it does is get them away from your home so that you don’t have to worry about them.
